Here is a list of our currently active program offerings. We are currently developing new programs to add to our rapidly growing curriculum. All of these programs can be customized to be appropriate for your particular business requirement.

Course Descriptions


WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System) - 4 hrs

This program will benefit all workplace personnel. It is a generic overview of WHMIS. Employers must provide additional WHMIS training tailored to the specific materials workers may encounter. Upon completion of this generic program, participants will have a basic knowledge of the rights of workplace parties and how to use information required by WHMIS legislation. Successful participants will also be able to meet the required performance demonstration guidelines, and will receive a certificate of completion and a wallet card.

Topics include:

- Legislative requirements
- Responsibilities of workplace parties
- Information delivery
- Worker education and training
- Occupational health
- Recognition, assessment, and control options.

Occupational Hygiene - 2 hrs

This program will benefit workers, supervisors, and health and safety representatives. Upon completion, participants will be able to demonstrate the knowledge of the fundamentals of occupational hygiene. They will also be able to identify and explain legal requirements concerning exposure levels. Successful participants will also be able to meet the required performance demonstration guidelines, and will receive a certificate of completion and a wallet card.

Topics include:

- Recognition, evaluation, control of workplace stressors
- Forms of chemicals in the workplace
- Routes of entry
- Chemical effects on the human body - acute and chronic effects
- Categorization of health effects
- Exposure limits.

Personal Protective Equipment - 2 hrs

This program will benefit workers, supervisors, and health and safety representatives. Upon completion, participants will be able to demonstrate the knowledge of the selection, care, and use of common personal protective equipment. They will also be able to identify and explain legal requirements concerning PPE. Successful participants will also be able to meet the required performance demonstration guidelines, and will receive a certificate of completion and a wallet card.

- Control strategies
- Selection criteria
- Use, care, and maintenance
- Legal requirements
- Limitation of usage
- Compliance guidelines
- Training techniques.

Hazard Recognition and Principles of Control - 2 hrs

This program will benefit workers, supervisors, and health and safety representatives. Upon completion, participants will be able to demonstrate the knowledge of categories of workplace hazard, criteria for evaluating workplace hazards, and categories of control. They will also be able to identify and explain legal requirements concerning hazard recognition and principles of control. Successful participants will also be able to meet the required performance demonstration guidelines, and will receive a certificate of completion and a wallet card.

Topics include:

- Recognition of workplace hazards
- Legislation on hazard recognition
- Hazards categories
- Evaluation of hazards
- Principles of control at the source, along the path, at the worker.

Lockout/Tagout - 4 hrs

This program will benefit workers and supervisors. Upon completion, the participants will know the legal requirements for locking out and tagging, the devices to use, the steps to take, and the kinds of equipment typically involved. Successful participants will also be able to meet the required performance demonstration guidelines, and will receive a certificate of completion and a wallet card.

Topics include:

- Lockout and tagout in OHS Act and regulation
- Lockout and tagout planning
- Electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, piped, and thermal systems
- Gravity, momentum, stored mechanical energy
- Lockout devices and application
- Lockout procedures

Fall Protection and Fall Arrest - 4 or 8 hrs

The training goal of this program is to provide the basic knowledge required for construction personnel to work safely in areas exposed to fall hazards. The objectives are to enable users to recognize fall hazards, and to identify and apply fall protection controls, including fall protection and fall arrest.

Topics include:

- Legal responsiblities for employers, supervisors and workers.
- Fines and penalties
- Fall protection training
- Fall prevention
- Fall arrest

Occupational Health and Safety Legislation - 4 hrs

This program will benefit all workplace personnel. Upon completion, participants will be familiar with section of the Act and be able to identify the legislative requirements relating to their workplace. Successful participants will also be able to meet the required performance demonstration guidelines, and will receive a certificate of completion and a wallet card.

Topics include:

- Overview of legal requirements
- Definitions and intent
- Notices to Director
- Joint health and safety committees and reps
- Work refusals
- Workplace responsibilities

Forklift (Industrial) - 4 or 8 hrs

This program will benefit forklift operators and supervisors in an industrial setting. Upon completion, participants will be able to demonstrate the knowledge required to operate forklifts in compliance with the Ontario Ministry of Labour's Competence Standards for Forklift Operators and CSA Standard B335-94, Industrial Lift truck Operator Training. Successful participants will also be able to meet the required performance demonstration guidelines, and will receive a certificate of completion and a wallet card.

Training modules will include:

- Types of forklifts
- Legislation
- Operating techniques
- Load handling procedures
- Basic hydraulics and pre-operational checks
- Operating hazards and precautions
- Stability and tipping
- Inspection, maintenance, and records
- Capacity and load charts

Forklift (Rough Terrain) - 8 or 16 hrs

This program will benefit forklift operators and supervisors in a rough terrain setting. Upon completion, participants will be able to demonstrate the knowledge required to operate forklifts in compliance with the Ontario Ministry of Labour's Competence Standards for Forklift Operators and CSA Standard B335-94, Industrial Lift truck Operator Training. Successful participants will also be able to meet the required performance demonstration guidelines, and will receive a certificate of completion and a wallet card.

Aerial Work Platforms - 4 or 8 hrs

This program will benefit operators of scissors lifts, boom lifts, and other elevating work platforms, self propelled or push around, and provide safe, efficient access for working at heights. It also presents major hazards when they are not selected, used, inspected, or maintained properly. Successful participants will also be able to meet the required performance demonstration guidelines, and will receive a certificate of completion and a wallet card.

Training modules will include:

- Types of lifting devices
- Capacity and load charts
- Operating techniques
- Legislation
- Basic hydraulics and pre-operational checks
- Operating hazards and precautions
- Stability and tipping
- Inspection, maintenance, and records

Transportation of Dangerous Goods - 4 or 8 hrs

This program will benefit all workers involved in the handling, offering for transportation or carriage of dangerous goods. Upon completion the participant will be able to prepare, offer and accept dangerous goods, and will also aid in the development of company wide compliance policy and procedures. Successful participants will also be able to meet the required performance demonstration guidelines, and will receive a certificate of completion and a wallet card.

- Handling and packaging requirements
- Reporting Dangerous Occurrences

Environmental Spill and Leak - 4 hrs

This program will benefit all workers involved in the handling and the disposal of materials that have been spilled or leaked. Upon completion the participant will be acquainted with the concept of safe healthful containment, cleanup, and disposal materials that have been spilled or leaked.. Successful participants will receive a certificate of completion and a wallet card.

Training modules will include:

Spill recognition techniques Disposal

Spill neutralization and dilution techniques Evacuation
Clean up Spills equipment

Propane Handling - 2 , 4 or 8 hrs

This program will benefit workers, supervisors, and health and safety representatives. Upon completion, the participants will be able to recognize and evaluate the hazards associated with propane. They will also be able to safely connect, disconnect, and activate propane equipment up to 400,000 BTU. Successful participants will also be able to meet the required performance demonstration guidelines, and will receive a certificate of completion and a wallet card.

Topics include:

- Hazard recognition and evaluation
- Legislative requirements and safe practices
- Connection, activation, and disconnection of propane equipment.
